Families rallied to save Lake Grove just days after learning the school is under threat of closure and development.

Our aim was to draw attention to a little-known plan, moving all too fast through approval processes. Many expressed surprise that they hadn’t known about the district’s Long Range Facilities Planning Committee proposals sooner, and concern that the recommendation and decision would take place within a matter of weeks.

Many families moved to this neighborhood because of this school in walkable proximity to the Lake Grove village and their homes. While it’s true most current students will likely have moved on by the time the proposed displacement takes place, plenty of families have younger children who would be directly affected by a move to the Uplands campus, which would not itself be getting a significant upgrade.
